Services We Provide

  • Rehabilitation and Corrective Care of the Spine - Specific Chiropractic Health Center emphasizes the relationship of the spine towards overall health and wellness. As the spinal cord serves as the means by which the brain communicates with each and every cell of the body, it is important that the spine itself is functioning properly. "Rehabilitation" of the spine is that period of time in which adjustments are being made for the purpose of restoring the spine back towards its more normal position. The Rehabilitation Phase requires more frequent adjustments as the bones, muscles and ligaments have become used to holding the spine in an altered and abnormal position. We pride ourselves in reducing the amount of time that phase of care requires by not only addressing the spine and the soft tissues, but also educating the patient about eliminating "bad" chronic postural positions that would hamper this process, as well as adopting "good" postural positions that will help you "hold" your adjustments longer.

  • Maintenance Care of the Spine - once the condition of the patient's spine has been sufficiently improved through Rehabilitation, the next phase of care that is recommended is maintaining this correction. The frequency of adjusting and need for care significantly decreases, and is more a function of an individual's personal choice about what they would like to achieve. Maintenance care is embraced by many of our patients as it allows them to experience and appreciated life to the fullest.

    The level of maintenance care that patients choose is largely an individual one. People whose goal is to experience decrease symptoms may chose to get adjusted once a month, while those people seeking to experience "an optimal level of health" may chose to get adjusted once every week. All we do is explain the advantages of both, and support the decisions that the individual patients make.

  • Rehabilitation and Corrective Care of the Extremities - Just like the spine, the extremities can develop situations where they are not able to function as they did previously. While many people contribute this to a specific injury or just getting old, the fact of the matter is that there is a number of conditions that can be affecting how well the different extremities function. Should you have a problem with any of your extremities, one thing is for certain - doing nothing will not fix or improve how well they work. Our office is trained at assessing extremity by examining whether:
    1. The bones of the joints are not interacting properly;
    2. The opposing muscles have lost their balance with one another;
    3. The joint in question is actually the problem, or merely compensating for another condition elsewhere; and
    4. A condition within the spine is preventing the muscles/bones from working properly.

  • Maintenance Care of the Extremities - Once the actual problem within an extremity is identified and corrected, a maintenance plan can be created to help maintain the improvements that have been achieved. Many people embrace this idea as there is nothing more frustrating than having to fix an old problem again - maintenance care often allows people to enjoy the activities that they love for the rest of their lives.

  • Lifestyle Advice - Specific Chiropractic offers ergonomic advice to patients in a unique manner - we educate them about how many their current postural positions may be negatively affecting their spines, and then introduce postural positions that are beneficial to the spine. By understanding these simple tenets, our patients are able to not only correct their own work, home and sleep positions, but also give beneficial advice to family and friends as well.

  • Nutrition Advice - Proper nutrition is one aspect of health that many people understand the importance of, but something that few people actually practice in a consistent manner. Our role at Specific Chiropractic Health Center is to provide a baseline of education regarding nutrition, and then simply remind patients about the need to follow it.

  • Nutritional Supplementation - The convenience of commercially available food has helped alleviate many of the world's food shortage concerns (certainly within our region of the world), it has come at an expense of nutrient concentrations being less than what they were historically. While buying organic foods will help improve this, we advocate the use of specific nutritional support from Standard Process (link to standardprocess.com) By using a "Stress Symptom Survey" nutritional assessment computer program, we are able to evaluate whether there are consistent nutritional deficiencies in someone's diet that could be responsible for the symptoms that people are experiencing. Examples of this could be mild depression, fatigue, gastric reflux and other "conditions" that many people face. For complex cases, we have a team of highly regarded nutritionists that have been able to help many people with a variety of conditions.

  • Hydration - Many people in this country are dehydrated to some extent, and this dehydration negatively affects their health. While generic nutritional advice recommends 6-8 eight ounce glasses of plain water a day, this often is not enough for someone to experience optimal health.

  • Total Body Modification - TBM is ancillary form of bodywork that we use in our office to assess the "functional" physiology of the body. This technique uses "test points" while challenging routine muscle actions to determine whether these points are having a positive or negative effect on how that muscle is able to work. There are many similarities between how TBM works and those form of bodywork that are based on the Meridians of the body. While TBM is not for everyone, it continues to help many people in our office everyday with a variety of health concerns.

  • Deep Tissue Massage - while the idea of a therapeutic massage is something that most people can embrace, our approach to addressing the soft tissues of the body is more based on how they are affecting the joints that they are associated with. With that in mind, we tend to use a deeper level of massage that is more effective at quickly achieving a desired result - better function and less pain/discomfort.

  • Autonomic Nervous System Scans - The majority of nerves within the human body are used for something other than the transmission of pain, so we have sought out other means to assess how the body is functioning. Thermal Scans and Surface EMGs provide a better assessment of how well the body is functioning and gauge the patient's response to care.

  • Low Force Techniques - While every patient that is seen in this office is given careful and specific chiropractic adjustments, some people require a more gentle approach than other people. Our office caters to those people by providing a variety of techniques that are low- and no-force compared to traditional chiropractic.
